Picture of a house in Castleton. The foreground has out of focus grass with a isolated house in the midground. Sheep are in the background.

Walk in the Peaks

I went for a nice walk with friends around Castleton in the Peak District. During the walk I saw this very isolated house and thought the scene looked like a painting.

Long exposure picture of the night sky showing many stars with trees at the bottom of the frame.

Starry Night

I don't see many starry nights living in the city so it made a nice change seeing so many after a late walk in the Peak District.

Crookesmoor

I like this composition as the light-trail guides the viewer through the frame of the photo. Starting in the bottom right, then along the road until we get to the Arts Tower.

Down by the Riverside

Just a nice calm picture of some people down by the riverside. Most of the picture posted from the Monsal trail are of the bridge. This picture reverses this and takes a picture from the bridge.

Mr Yellow Helmet

I like the composition of this photo. The lights guide the viewer through the journey of the cyclist. I itentionally left room on the right-hand side of the frame to show where the cylist journey continues. I was especially lucky they are wearing such a bright helmet!

Sonder

“the realisation that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own”.

I went to Bakewell for a much needed day off, I decided to challenge myself by only using my 22mm lens. When I finished the day, I didn't feel like I really took any good shots. Then I saw this one, it's quite nice to look at first glance, but it is also a bit deeper. I enjoy zooming into this photo (you might need to download the full resolution version) and having a glimpse into the lives of the different people. E.g., the man on his phone, the man fishing and the cute doggy in the background playing in the water.

A Journey Home

A picture taken on my walk home after getting vaccinated. I like how the picture looks like it's from some kind of fantasy world. In reality it's a little forest next to a smelly recycling centre!

West Street at Night

One of my favourite types of photography is street photography. I like the story this one tells, West Street is often a chaotic place at night. Here we can see a gentleman looking into the street, observing the world. The other part of the frame hints at the chaos he could be looking at. But nothing is really clear, much like trying to comprehend the people of West Street!

Dandelion in the Wind

It's not really in the wind! I had my friend blow it whilst I took many photos. It was fun experimenting with different planned scenes.

A Pretty Bee

A picture of a bee I took whilst walking around Sheffield. I like this photo as both the detail in the plant and the bee is really clear!

Catholic Cathedral

A picture of a Cathedral near Fargate in Sheffield. I like the story it tells with a service about to begin and a sign of the times. If you look closely you can see the man is wearing a mask and that the building is empty.

Hello, It's me!

A cheeky, hmm selfie? Welcome to my photography gallery/mini blog website.

Reflections of Sheffield

A fun play with reflections. The lights in the shop are pretty cool and with a bit of editing the reflections in the windows came out really clearly.

Steep Hill

I like the composition I put together with this one. The Cathedral is a clear subject and it is beautiful! But there is also lots of foreground interest. The older ladies, the photographer in front and the lads walking up the hill, all tell little stories.

Penguin of Weston Park

I like how the pigeon is frozen with the fast shutter. And it's funny that it looks like a penguin.

Sunset over Sheffield

Not a technically impressive photo but is symbolic of a new chapter in my life as I move to a new house!
